The PR folks over at Citroen asked if the modern family would try out one of their cars for a week. What serendipity! Driving a French car on our halfterm holiday in France might actually get us more street cred. We needed a vehicle that could accommodate six people, so we picked the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, a 7-seater MPV. This sleek black version arrived on our doorstep. Don't you just want to pet her?
What we liked:
- The styling -- she's sleek and beautiful -- the front windscreen is HUGE and enables panoramic views;
- There is lots of room to store items, we kept finding new cubby holes to stash stuff;
- The rear-view mirrors automatically fold in when you lock the car; not only is this handy, but it also helps if you can't remember if you locked the car or not;
- The front console is easy to read;
- The girls loved the tray tables in the passenger seats;
- Hubby loved that the parking brake automatically sets (and releases) itself;
- Drink holders are everywhere;
- A warning comes up when the fuel tank is low, and tells you exactly how many miles you have left;
- Reverse sensors -- I can't live w/o them!
What we didn't like:
- There was a tiny, weeny bit of hesitation to pick up speed;
- If you are not careful, when you release the middle seatbelt in the back it hits the person in the passenger seat. My youngest was often on the receiving end of this.
Verdict: a stylish, comfortable and economic 7-seater, with lots of practical options. Am even considering purchasing one!
Cost: Prices start at £18,405 up to around £24,000 for the range-topping models.
Here are some snap shots of the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso in Normandy:
Here's the C4 getting on the Eurotunnel. Doesn't she look eager?
Here's the C4 at the D-day beaches...quite regal and somber looking...
Enjoying the view parked in back of Monet's residence in Giverny...
By the Cathedral in Bayeux...
Waiting in the sunshine by the Casino in Deauville...
And in lovely Honfleur.
It was very sad to see you go C4, hope to be reunited soon!
