I'm all for big brands getting behind green projects. Procter & Gamble wrote in to tell me about their Future Friendly initiative, an education programme involving P&G brands including Ariel, Lenor, Fairy, Flash, Duracell Rechargeables and Iams. Supported by NGO partners the Energy Saving Trust, Waste Watch and Waterwise, the programme is designed to help and enable us to be more sustainable.
To be part of Future Friendly, P&G brands must have reduced energy, water or packaging use by at least 15 per cent; whether it’s in the way they’re manufactured or used. Meanwhile, they still deliver the performance and results that you’d expect – and some can even reward you by saving you money on your energy bill.
To publicise this programme, P&G are holding an exclusive competition on A Modern Mother to give away a break at the UK’s first eco-spa, The Titanic Spa. This spa has invested £1.5 million to create a carbon neutral building, has a 15m chlorine-free, salt regulated swimming pool, photovoltaic solar panels, OTEX laundry system, and it's very own "bore hole" that provides pure Yorkshire water to the Titanic Experience.

The “Less Waste, More Reward” Competition – Terms and Conditions
1. This competition is open to all residents in the UK over 18 years of age, excluding employees of Procter & Gamble UK and A Modern Mother blog and their affiliates or agents, the families of such employees and any other person connected with this promotion.
2. The Promoter will not be liable for applications not received, incomplete, delayed or damaged. Proof of posting is not proof of delivery. Last date for receipt of entries is 23 September 2010.
3. All entries received by 23 September 2010 will be entered into a Free Prize Draw, and the first correct entry randomly selected by an independent person will win an eco-spa experience worth £550. The prize includes: a night’s accommodation in a spacious Spa Apartment; two Continental Breakfasts (one per person); a one-course lunch on day of arrival for two; a two-course evening meal in the Bistro for two; full use of the Techno Gym, 15m salt swimming pool, hydro zone, poolside steam and sauna rooms; one Titanic Heat treatment followed by a detox bath per person; one Decléor Aroma Cocoon body Wrap per person; one Decléor Aromplastie Illuminating facial per person; and ATOL & ABTA travel bonding protection.. 4. All property rentals (i.e not hotels) require a cautionary deposit of £200 to be taken directly from the Winners in advance of their stay. This is in order to cover any breakages or mistreatment of the property, for which they are directly responsible. This will then be refunded at the end of their stay providing there have been no breakages or mistreatment of the property.
5. The prize is as stated and cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged. There is no cash alternative. No bulk or third party entries accepted. The Winners will be notified by email within 14 days of the closing date. Please allow 60 days for delivery of your prize.
6. In the event the claim for a prize is not received by the Promoter within 7 working days of such notification, the Promoter reserves the right to liaise with A Modern Mother to choose an alternative winner.
